We have three men’s teams and two ladies’ teams which compete in the inter-university BUCS leagues. Many of them, along with our mixed team, also play in local leagues. We hold three training sessions a week, one of which is a fitness session, specifically for team members to help everyone improve. If you’re interested in following how our teams are doing in the BUCS leagues, click on the links in the widget below which will bring to the BUCS website, which is updated within 24 hours of any match.
If you are curious about any aspects of the university badminton teams, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our email ([email protected]) or Facebook group for further information.
Current BUCS Results
Ladies A came second in their BUCS league for the fifth year in a row, so we’re aiming for promotion in 15/16. Ladies B ended their season mid table, this year they had two Durham teams in their league, one of which is being promoted so there’s good opportunity for improvement next year.
Mens A, B and C all finished mid table in their BUCS leagues with Mens A pulling off a win in the Northern Conference Cup!
Our Yorkshire league A team managed to get promoted into the second division, so we’re in for some tough matches next season. Our Y&D results were poor given that we were in the top division for our Mens, Ladies and Mixed teams but our strongest players were playing in Yorkshire league.
Our ladies teams have had a fantastic year, with both finishing second in their respective BUCS leagues, with Ladies’ A losing out on promotion to Sheffield Hallam 1sts and and Ladies’ B being beaten by 1 point by the Hull 1sts. Men’s A and Men’s B both finished fourth in their leagues, while Men’s C were unfortunately relegated. Still, there’s always next year!
Meanwhile, in the York and District League, Men’s A finished 3rd in Division One and Men’s B came 5th in Division 2. In the ladies’ league, Ladies’ A finished 4th in their Division. Our Mixed A team came 5th in the Mixed Division 1, whilst Mixed C and B finished 2nd and 6th in Mixed Division 2. Not a bad year!
